Until now we've kept it pretty simple,
and though there's nothing complicated about the act of jumping in the
water with a surf board, it is not a simple sport to master. The only
way to approach it is by doing - and doing until you improve - but it
wouldn't be a bad idea to get some expert guidance:
NJ Surf Co. offers a
variety surfing classes starting with a one-day primer. Once you've
gotten your feet wet, you'll want to seek out the popular surfing spots, both for the likely
better waves and the camaraderie of the other surfers. Two of those
areas that come to mind are Long Branch,
just south of Monmouth Beach and Inlet Beach in Manasquan.
Safety Tip:
Never surf alone.
