The days of stealing a glance at the
pictures on the wall of the post office, and then only if there was a
waiting line, are gone forever. The ability of every user of the
Internet to easily access these lists is not only bad news for any list member
that chose this area to hide out, but is good news from the personal safety
aspect as well.
If it becomes a habit to
review at least the State Police list on a regular basis you'll not only be able
to alert officials, and that is certainly the only action an ordinary citizen
should take, you'll also be equipping yourself with knowledge that could allow
you to avoid a possible confrontation simply because you were unaware.
Though most of us will never
meet up with any of the members of these lists, the State Police and county compilations
will have more people originally from the state; the other lists are included for both the curious and because the members are always on the move, maybe
to New Jersey next.
If even one earlier apprehension
is achieved because of input from increased public knowledge, there will be that
many fewer potential victims. Even a simple "I think I saw" call to
your local police may turn out to be the tip that breaks the case for them.
