famous hoax of modern times - the invasion of Martians in the War of
the Worlds radio broadcast in 1938, with a purported ground zero in

Mill.
Though disclaimers were included, many thousands
of people were initially panicked by the broadcast.
For an excruciating few
seconds, silence. Then, another bulletin: 40 people dead! All of
Mercer and Middlesex counties under martial law!
