| The battles on the ocean pollution front seem
to come and go like the tides - things are quiet for awhile, then a new
dumping permit is issued, or evidence of an unregulated industrial discharge
is uncovered by one reporter or another and the heat gets turned back up.
As this is written in January 2002, it hardly seems like like
two years since the "rowdy mud dump fight" covered in our
Ocean Dumping Flares Tempers article, but indeed
the time has flown by. A quick review of the
Clean Ocean Action and
NJ Surfrider Foundation Web
sites didn't turn up any current calls to action and the events coverage on
those sites hasn't yet been updated to reflect any planned activities for the
upcoming summer, though it's a sure bet that as causes for action arise, details
will be made available.
