At the start of our
quest for the best beaches,
we suspected there would be dissenting
opinions and
we weren't disappointed.

there is a lot of overlap, no two lists are identical. After comparing the
entries in a strictly unscientific way, it appears that the most common
choices for "best beach" will be various beaches in Hawaii. With the year
round good weather and the thoughts of the exotic that the Hawaiian
Islands raise in many of us, that shouldn't be a surprise.

The pictures of the beaches in Thailand
evoked the strongest "if I were going to go, that'd be the place" feelings. Would a trip
like that be worth it? Perhaps, but the cost of a one or two week trip to
Thailand would likely buy an oceanfront summer rental at the Jersey Shore for
the season, so it's all a matter of priorities!

Though every beach on each of these lists is
likely to be appealing, the reality is no one beach can be the "best beach,"
because each of us have our own needs and desires that will determine what's
best for us. Someone planning a one or two week vacation will have a different
objective than they do for a day trip or a long weekend. In the former, some of
the more exotic destinations may be high on the list. In the latter, any number
of Jersey Shore beaches will fill the bill nicely.
During the three to four month long season,
there's no reason to leave the Jersey Shore to enjoy general fun in the sun,
frolicking in the sand, fishing or swimming. The longing for another destination
increases in direct proportion to the changing color of the leaves and the
plummeting mercury, so enjoy browsing these lists on the rainy days of summer
and throughout the fall and winter. It's fun to plan and dream about exotic
destinations whether you ever actually make the trip or not!
